Present and Future for Pitch-Based Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics

Abstract

Pitch-based carbon fibers have been developed for over 20 years and provide wide range of stiffness, high thermal conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion and other unique properties. The history of pitch-based carbon fiber, mechanical properties, physical properties and various applications for pitch-based carbon fiber reinforced plastics are reviewed to study the future trend for pitch-based carbon fiber and its applications.
