Abstract
In order to evaluate the flexibility of matrix resin and hybridization of the carbon fiber with high compressive failure strain on the residual burst strength after impact, 6 types of FW-FRP composite pipes were tested. Impact tests with impactor radius of 20 mm were conducted on the specimens. Internal pressure tests were conducted on the specimen after impact tests. The burst strength of the virgin FW-CFRP composite pipes was decreased with decreasing Young's modulus of the matrix. The residual burst strength, however, increased with decreasing Young's modulus. The residual burst strength was also improved with carbon fibers with high compressive failure strain.
