Abstract
Trial measurement of the heights of land marks through several days' or several hours' observation of water level were executed, by using a portable tide gauge, along the northern coast of Bay of Ise. The amount of uncertainty of the height determined by this method of levelling was estimated to be of the order. of a few centimeters due to the irregular rise and sink of the sea-level caused by oceanographycal and meteorological disturbances.
