Bulletin of Glaciological Research (BGR) is an international, multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal
published by the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice (JSSI). The journal
covers all scientific and technical aspects of snow, ice, glaciers, ice sheets,
sea ice, and related components of the cryosphere.
Established in 1973, BGR has served
the global cryospheric research community for more than five decades. Since 2010,
the journal has been published as a fully open-access, online-only journal,
ensuring the rapid and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge
worldwide.
Article Types
BGR publishes the following categories of
manuscripts:
Article
Original research papers presenting previously unpublished scientific
results.
Articles are reviewed by a handling editor and at least two independent
referees.
Report
Short communications reporting preliminary results or activities of broad
scientific interest.
Reports are reviewed by a handling editor and at least one referee.
Review
Comprehensive reviews of existing research and/or future perspectives in a
specific field.
Reviews undergo the same peer-review process as Articles.
Editorial Screening and Peer Review
Upon submission, all manuscripts undergo an
initial editorial screening by the Editorial Board to assess:
relevance to the scope of BGR,
scientific originality and completeness,
quality of English,
and
conformity with journal policies.
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria
may be returned to the authors without external peer review.
Manuscripts passing the screening stage are
assigned to a handling editor, who selects expert referees and oversees the
peer-review process. Based on the reviewers’ reports, authors may be requested
to revise their manuscript.
Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within
three months; otherwise, the submission will be regarded as withdrawn.
The final decision on acceptance is
made by the Editor-in-Chief.
Open Access and Article Processing
Charge
BGR is a fully open-access journal.
All published articles are freely available immediately upon publication.
An Article Processing Charge (APC)

processing, typesetting, digital archiving, DOI registration, and online
publication.
Invited papers, editorials, and other
special contributions may be exempted from the APC at the discretion of
the Editorial Board.
