Abstract: This study was conducted to examine the six-year dynamics of the Betula ermanii patch in a cool-temperate secondary broadleaved forest in Central Japan. Three 30 m × 30 m plots established in 2018 in the Kawakami Forest of the University of Tsukuba in Nagano, Japan were measured in diameter and height, and re-measured each in 2024. The results showed no special changes in the stem density and basal area in the three plots over six years. These results suggest that the Betula ermanii patch remains relatively stable at this stage and that long-term observations are thus needed to evaluate stand development and succession.
