In order to make the capacity of an on-load tap-changing distribution transformer larger, it is proposed to connect the coarse windings in parallel in a large distribution transformer with divided secondary windings. The novel connection of the coarse windings and the voltage control by using switched capacitors used together with tap-changings, proposed here, satisfactorily solve the two problems: axial electromagnetic forces under a short-circuit fault of a secondary winding and voltage regulations in unbalanced loads, respectively. They are serious problems for a divided-winding transformer.
