In this study, we measured bone mass and life behavior (exercise custom and diet habits)and examined the relationships between them. The subjects were university students majoring in exercise. The same examinations were performed on university students not majoring in exercise as control. Obtained results were summarized as follows.
    1) The significant difference was se e n in bone mass between student majoring in exercise (105.5±12.0%) and control (98.0±10.5%).
    2) Exercise custom in growth phase was ap p arent in students majoring in exercise.
    3) In comparison among runner, swimmer and sedentary students, the bone mass of runner (110.0±11.1%) was significantly higher than other two groups. Though the difference was not significant, bone mass of swimmer (94.0±7.1%) was lowest.
    4) There was no difference in diet habits between students m ajoring exercise and another ones.
    5) We concluded that it should be very important for prevention of osteoporosis that students in elementally school study bone mass and exercise precisely.

The questionnaire related to the external injury of the oral and maxillofacial targeting the university students who belonged to the exercise club of contact sport was carried out, and the external injury frequency of the oral and maxillofacial and the use experience of the mouth guard were definite for this study.
Furthermore, we investigated t he influence to the performance of the sport player by wearing the mouse guard.
    A. Questionnaire
    1. The rates of the external injury were 27.8% of the faces,20.0% of the foot and foot joints,17.1%of the knees, and it became clear that there were many face external injuries specially in l2parts.
    2. There are most f a ce external injuries in the oral and maxillofacial and it is occupied about 70% for the game with and without the rule
    3. The use experience of the mouth guard wasl.8% for the game with the rule and 28.0% without the rule.
    4. The necessity of the mouth guard was 92.0% with the rule and 63.6% without the rule.
    B. Performance test
The physical strength and exercise competence test got the increased result in the items of the muscle, the muscular endurance and the cardiorespiratory endurance by wearing the mouth guard.
Therefore, wearing the mouth guard was effective to improve the prevention of the sport external injury of the oral and maxillofacial and the physical strength and exercise ability (the muscle, the muscular endurance and the cardiorespiratory endurance).

We do not have th e statistics of the cases of injury and death at park or playground. However, the users of the parks have sued for the negligence of the management of the equipments at parks or playgrounds.
By the way, European and American have the standards or the guidelines of the playground equipments and safety management.

The purpose of this study was to clarify university students experiences on the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. On January 17,1999, five years after the earthquake, a questionnaire survey was administered to ask 164 university students to describe their experiences on it. Most of them were junior high school students at the time of the earthquake. So, there were not many subjects who did direct activities in the struck area. But, their experiences on the great earthquake were a precious opportunity by which they considered not only the disaster and importance of the anti-disaster measures, but also human life/death and kindness, etc. At the time of five years after the earthquake, they were forgetting seriousness of the disaster, but the lesson of it must not be faded away. Whether we had the experiences of suffering the earthquake disaster or not, it is necessary that we should develop safety education on disaster prevention, disaster prevention measures, and rehabilitation and therapy of earthquake victims.

The present study examined knowledge, attitudes and practices concerning disaster prevention among elementary schoolchildren (n=439). Subjects were selected between 3rdgrade and 6thgrade from 3 elementary schools. The questionnaire measured knowledge about natural disasters, evacuation, and places of refuge. It also measured children' s attitudes and practices concerning disaster prevention. Results revealed that most of children perceived the hazard of natural disasters correctly, especially earthquakes and severe weather. Small numbers of children knew preparations for natural disasters, evacuation, and places of refuge in the neighborhood. Despite their having much knowledge about natural disasters, their practices are insufficient to prevent disasters except gathering information about typhoon and heavy rain on TV or radio. A small number of practices were related to knowledge about natural disasters. We need to focus on developing their abilities to prevent disasters practically through disaster prevention education in cooperation with family and community

Since 1968, four types of APP Test have been developed by the authors. L. H-edition for elementary pupils K-edition for kindergarten, S-edition for jr. & senior high school students, and R-edition for motorcycle riders have achieved substantially high levels of validity and reliability in School training practice.
Original APP test is c onsisted of eleven categories of question series, out of which two categories, i. e.“Speed & Quality of Performance”and“Good Attitude towards Safety”are employed for the“Compact Form”,
Total of 782 junior high school students (380boys, 402girls) participated in the testing of, the Compact form.
Analyses are conducted to evaluate the student abilities and aptitude on safety and resulted in grade A (25%), grade B (33%) and grade C (42%), respectively.
With respect to the validity,93% of teachers agree d with the results of the test.
Six unique cases in“Speed & Quality Performance”are analyzed in details an their application for student guidance is discussed in light of delinquency and violence in classrooms.

The purpose of this study is to examine safety education in Meiji era public schools from the journal“Gakko Eiser”. This journal was published by“Gakko Eisei Kenkyu-kai”(Research of School Hygiene Association) from May 1903 to September 1905.
The stated purpose of the journal“Gakko Eisei”was to initiate and develop school hygiene education in Meiji era, Japan.
In spite of its long range educational objective, the publication period of the journal was very short. Knowing the reasons for the journal's short history is vital for understanding the history of health education in Japan.
The purpose of the journal“Gakko Eisei”can be found in the arguments of the chief editor Chomatsu HARADA, who made many contribution to the advancement of health education of Japan. In addition to editing the journal, all of the articles were also written under his supervision.
He maintained that an educator should especially attach great importance to the safety of children, who are in the midst of their development process.
From the viewpoint of his original education the ory of school hygiene, Mr. Harada also discussed children' s safety away from school.
These articles can be summarized in the following themes: swimming, bicycle, sucide, war, typhoons, and floods.
