The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of mother's personality traits, community consciousness, and stressors on their choice of restorative environment. Using research firm’s data, e-mail was sent to women from ages 20 to 49 years old with children. The answers of 533 women who were raising elementary school children and wrote down their stressors specifically were analyzed. The stressors were grouped mainly into 6 categories (child-rearing, sickness, work, household finances, partner, and family problems). When the stressor was partner related, the subjective intensity of the stressor was significantly stronger than that of child-rearing, sickness, and work. Home was selected as a restorative environment in 70% of the cases. However, when the stressor was partner related, third place in the community chosen as restorative environment significantly increased. The contribution of personality traits, community consciousness and stressor on restorative environment (home or third place) were analyzed using the logistic regression analysis for each stressor groups. The results showed that not only personality traits, but type of stressors influence the choice of their restorative environment.
