Guidelines for papers submitted to Japanese Geotechnical Society Special Publication

Japanese Geotechnical Society Special Publication (JGSSP) is the e-proceedings series which publishes the papers accepted and presented at the international conferences/symposia hosted by the Japanese Geotechnical Society. The organizing committees of the relevant conferences/symposia handle the reviews of the papers submitted to JGSSP, to make a decision of acceptance or rejection, in accordance with the following guidelines:

·
Before full paper submission, each abstract will be reviewed by two or more reviewers to determine whether it (1) matches the theme(s) of the international conference/symposium, (2) is not for commercial purpose, (3) contains technical information useful to readers, and (4) is reliable in content. The reviewers may add their opinions on the abstract as necessary to improve the quality of the paper.

·
A submitted paper will be reviewed by two or more reviewers, and in addition to the above review criteria (1) to (4) of the abstract, the reviewers will also check (5) whether the data are reliable, (6) whether the research is clearly described in terms of its background, methods, results, discussion and conclusion, (7) whether the paper is well presented (language expressions, etc.), and (8) if there are any other issues that might prevent the paper from being published in JGSSP. The reviewers (or the person in charge of the technical affairs of the conference/symposium) will then decide whether the paper is "A - Accepted (optional comments may be attached)", "B - Conditionally Accepted (revision required based on the reviewers' comments)" or "C - Rejected (the reason is clearly stated)". When the paper is "B - conditionally accepted", the reviewers (or the person in charge of the technical affairs of the conference/symposium) will review the resubmitted paper to see if the points raised by reviewers and requirements have been addressed before a final decision is made on acceptance or rejection of the paper.

·
For papers submitted without prior abstract submission, the review criteria (1) to (8) shall be applied during the review process of the paper.
