Trauma is projected to become the third leading cause of disease burden worldwide. To address this, it is essential to effectively train trauma physicians in clinical practice.
With the goal of enhancing mutual collaboration regarding trauma care at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), medical professionals and staff from the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine and the Japanese Association of Surgery for Trauma have been participating in exchanges with AIIMS medical staff since 2019.
Through this project, Japanese trauma surgeons were able to accumulate surgical experience and experience actual trauma cases in India, and the Indian team was able to learn the disaster and trauma training system used in Japan, bring it back to India, and offer their own courses.
In the future, the Indian team could further help AIIMS by introducing minimally invasive procedures that are not commonly used in India.
