Pollen production of six Poaceae species (Sorghum halepense, Avena fatua, Lolium multiflorum, Setaria viridis, Miscanthus sinensis and Oryza sativa) are obtained as a baseline data-set for quantitative vegetation reconstruction. These estimates are based on the numbers of pollen grains per anther, anthers per floret, floret per inflorescence and inflorescence per area. Pollen production per unit area ranges from 0.24 [10^12・ha^-1] for Setaria viridis to 16.39 [10^12・ha^-1] for Lolium multiflorum, comparable to the estimates for tree species previously measured in Japan.
