In order to clarify the effectiveness of BHC on the soy bean root miner M anagromyza sp., the dusting on the soil surface near the soy bean hypocotyl was done comparing with the dusting on its leaves When BHC is dusted on the soil surface, hatched out miners are strongly controled though the egg is little affected. Dusting three times of BHC on the leaves give the similar results to the dusting on the soil surface but the growth of the leaves is somewhat affected.
In the case of the dusting on the soil surface, the difference between BHC dust containing 1% and 3% gammar isomer is not significant. Parathion (Folidol) is recognized to be more effective than BHC in the case of the soil surface dusting, and the numbers of the eggs and larvae decrease markedly.
