This study focused on the support group for family caregivers of older people. Respondents were 140 family caregivers of older people. A rating scale was developed for assessing effects of support group. Through factor analysis, this scale (12 items) was divided into three subscales named “Gain advice and information about caregiving”, “Trust in coping and hope with future”, and “Emotional support by other caregivers”. By attended group, family caregivers felt emotionally supported by other caregivers and gained advice and information about caregiving. And “Trust in coping and hope with future” increased caregiver's positive appraisal (caregiving satisfaction and caregiver's self-growth).
