JOURNAL FREE ACCESSTributyltin (TBT) compounds were widely used as fungicides or antimold agents in household necessities, marine antifoulding paints, and fishing nets. In this study, a method is described for the separation of TBT compounds in household necessities by cation exchange resin chromatography and for determination by gas chromatography with an electron capture detector. TBT, a cationic substance, is extracted from household necessities using a hydrochloric acid-methanol or acetic acid-benzene solution and separated from these extracts b y adsorption on to Amberli to CG-120 followed by elution with 3N-HCl in methanol and detected by ECD-GC. The detection limit of TBT in this method is 0.05ng (calculation mass of tin) and recovery of an added standard in the samples is 90-95%.View full abstractDownload PDF (902K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSTetrodotoxin (TTX) in the livers of some puffer fish was analyzed by HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography).
