With the rapid progress in the technique of photo interpretation owing to the application of computers and the appearance of improved films, the photo interpretation has been widely adopted ;n the fields of geography, forestry, mining and disaster prevention, etc. Although it has not been used so frequently in the field of medicine, the aerial photo interpretation is gaining a great medical utility recently. Particularly, it it promising for the settlement of problems concerning the environ-mental hygiene and, especially, for the inspection of endemic diseases and harmful animals in the tropical regions.
The former medical investigation used to be made pursuing a course on a map, and it was impossible to inspect a wide scope at one time. However, the aerial photo inspection makes us easy to intensively grasp the appearance of wide places at one time. For instance, we can see the topography, geology, soil, watercourse, local climate, vegetation and land utilization, and can presume the existence of harmful animals, diseases and various environmental hygenic problems.
If the experts of various fields gather and examine an aerial photo interpretation, we can make a synthetic and wasteless plan and can gain fruitful results and data. Thus, the precision of photo interpretation will be further promoted.
