Objectives: We will clarify the status of compliance with infection prevention measures and difficult factors when visiting COVID-19-positive people and close contacts at a home-visit nursing station in A Prefecture.
Methods: An anonymous self-administered questionnaire survey consisting of 34 items was distributed at 185 facilities located in A Prefecture. The survey period was from April to May 2022.
Results: Responses were obtained from 72 facilities (response rate: 39.3%). There were 29 stations that had a record of visiting COVID-19-positive people/close contacts. Regarding the compliance rate of the 23 items in the COVID-19 home care manual 2 for facilities that were visited, only two items (wearing a face shield and use of pharmaceutical or quasi-drug alcohol-based hand rubs) showed 100% compliance at all facilities. The percentage of facilities with 100% compliance was less than half of the stations complied 100% with 5 items, such as finishing the visit within 15 minutes.
Conclusion: We believe that it is necessary for other facilities in the area to work together to address infection control issues that are difficult for a single facility to deal with in normal times.
