The title compound, [2,6-(C₂H₅)₂C₆H₃NH₃]Cl, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/a with a = 8.633(2), b = 20.530(2), c = 12.129(2)Å, β = 90.48(2)° and V = 2149.4(6). The atomic arrangement can be described as corrugated ribbons, containing ammonium groups of the organic cations and chloride anions. As well as electrostatic and van der Walls interactions, the component species interact through multiple hydrogen bonds.
