Abstract
This study aimed to identify factors that influence the change in expressive themes during the process of expression, to analyze studentsʼ learning in art classes. The study found that the expressive theme changed during the process of expression and noticed an increase in words related to vision and mimetic words. Moreover, three important factors were observed: mutual action in selecting appropriate materials for the expressive theme while touching; mutual action in explaining the theme of expression in the context of empathic interactions with others, such as friends and teachers; and mutual action in reusing techniques and materials that others have evaluated earlier. These results confirmed the efficacy of verbalization of the expressive theme, and established that expressive themes change based on interaction with others and the environment.
