Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the depth of understanding of design among high school students through inquiry-based learning linked to the local community. In collaboration with a local company, we created a poster to promote the company and confirmed its educational effect.
As a result of analyzing the studentsʼ activity records and worksheets, we found the design learning, which included dialogue with the local community and information sharing among the students, broadened the studentsʼ perspectives and led to a change in their awareness of design.
On the other hand, the points to keep in mind when providing instruction have not yet been clearly systematized. We will continue our research to refine and expand the viewpoints of the qualities and abilities to be cultivated, the perspective of evaluation, and the teaching methods.
