Abstract
Focusing on the term “tactile texture” in the context of creativity education for preschoolers, this study comprehensively reviews the research trends and scrutinizes the term. First, the meanings indicated by the term “tactile texture” were extracted from related studies and discussed. Secondly, researches on tactile texture and the desired future direction of creativity education for preschoolers were discussed from the viewpoint of the termʼs identified meanings. Consequently, it was found that the term “tactile texture” can be grasped from the following three viewpoints: feel, a part of material properties, and the basis of cognition. In addition to serving as viewpoints for understanding childrenʼs learning and planning the structure of preschool education, these three viewpoints can serve as discussion items for accumulating research results. The discussion can be further developed by discussing reduction of reluctance to feel, classification and systematization of materials suitable for preschool education materials, and learning textures.
