Abstract
Organic/inorganic hybrids containing 4wt% to 16wt% of titania were prepared from a diglycidyl ether of hydrogenated bisphenol-A (HDGEBA) and a titanium-tetra-iso-propoxide (TTIP) by utilizing a sol/gel process. In the HDGEBA/TTTP hybrids, the storage modulus in the rubbery region kept at a high value even in the high temperature. Observation using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the titania network was uniformity dispersed in the hybrids. When the UV light was irradiated to the epoxy/titania hybrids, contact angle decreased suddenly, and thus the surface of the hybrid materials converted from the hydrophobic to the highly hydrophilic one. As a result, the uniformity dispersing titania network in the hybrids appeared super hydrophilic property.
