Abstract

In order to express buckling of adhesive joints, buckling using Winkler's elastic foundation model isanalyzed. When a compressive load is applied to a beam on the elastic foundation, buckling occurs at muchhigher load than when the beam is compressed as a single body. However, in complete system bucklinganalysis assuming ideal compressive load, deformation in the compression process cannot be discussedalthough buckling load and buckling mode are obtained. In this paper, adherend deformation and bucklingmode shift due to initial imperfection is investigated with incomplete system buckling analysis assuming theinitial imperfection. Additionally, the phenomena that could occur in the buckling of the adhesive joints isexperimentally discussed.
