Abstract
Bullying is associated with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, social maladjustment and suicide. In recent years, suicide in young people caused by bullying is one of the biggest issue of mental health in Japan. In view of this situation, the development of an effective anti-bullying program may be urgent. Although various countermeasures against bullying are tried in several schools, a nationwide systematic program with evidence of its effect has not been developed in Japan. In present study, we show a nationwide anti-bullying program in Finland; “KiVa program.” The effect of the program was proved by a large randomized controlled trial (RCT) and has been nationwide-introduced in Finland. Studying the program may help the development of effective anti-bullying program in Japan.
