Kuri Kuri Omeme: The Doodle-Able Wallpaper

Abstract

This study explains the design methodology for the “Kurikuri Omeme” wallpaper design that encourages the kids to doodle on the wall instead of spending a long time on gadgets, as doodling is beneficial for kids’ development and it creates more chances to interact with the family. The process also includes a workshop analyzing consumers’ preferences. The design is not only for decoration but also to leverage its function to become a part of the family’s life. Finally, the design won the award of excellence in the Sangetsu Wallpaper Design Award 2021. The study shows the possibility of being produced as commercialized work in the future.
