To achieve a uniform flow in a honeycomb filler, a new type of perforated plate was developed for installation inside the header located upstream of the honeycomb. The homogenisation effect was evaluated based on the pressure loss and standard deviation of the velocity. Compared to the unmodified perforated plate parameters, the maximum flow velocity near the centre of the improved perforated plate reduced to values ranging between approximately 1/17 and 1/10, and the standard deviation decreased to values ranging between approximately 1/38 and 1/9 in each honeycomb.
