Non-destructive assay (NDA) of <SUP>239</SUP>Pu in spent nuclear fuel is possible using the self interrogation method with photofission. The self interrogation method is a transmission mode technique using nuclear resonance absorption, and is isotope specific. Combining it with photofission enables NDA using low-duty cycle, high flux accelerators, and can improve sensitivity. This talk will explain how self interrogation NDA can use photofission, and present example calculations.
