The sexual isolation between the smaller tea tortrix (Adoxophyes fasciata WALSINGHAM)and the summer fruit tortrix (A. orana FISCHER VON ROSLERSTAMM) was confirmed by traps baited with virgin females in the field and by mating choice experiments in the laboratory.Males of each species were more strongly attracted by the traps baited with the females of the same species. In the laboratory, most matings of A. fasciata were conspecific. A. orana also showed a tendency to the conspecific mating, although the mating activity of this species was retrained under the experimental conditions. The presence of A. fasciata females seemed to suppress the mating activity of A. orana.
