When T. palmi larvae were reared on eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) leaves dipped in 100 ppm pyriproxyfen EC liquid, control activity was apparent at the pupal stage. The hatchability of Orius sp. eggs laid on treated leaves was not different from that of a control group. Neither direct application of the chemical nor ingestion of T. palmi bred on treated leaves affected Orius sp. larval mortality, developmental speed, female adult's longevity or fertility. When 100 ppm pyriproxyfen EC was sprayed on eggplant leaves on which T.palmi and Orius sp. were present, the T. palmi's population density decreased qucikly due to the selective effect of pyriproxyfen to T. palmi in contrast to the carbaryl treatment which reduced the number of Orius sp. significantly.
