Correlation of male body size and virginity to calling bouts were investigated in a cricket, Pteronemobius nigrofasciatus (MATSUMURA). When two virgin males were confined in a cup, they tended to call separately. But when two mated males were confined together, call overlapping was not different from chance occurrence, and the total calling duration of larger males was longer than that of smaller individuals. When these males were isolated, calling duration of the latter tended to be longer than that of the former.
