Functionality of user interfacing for typeface selection

Abstract

Existing document creation tools, e.g. MS-Word, can provide some user interfaces for selecting typefaces of fonts. Unfortunately, however, a particular expertise on typography is essentially required to make an appropriate selection of typefaces employed in a document. This paper studies the functionalities to be supported by such a sophisticated user interface that a number of users without particular expertise can easily select appropriate typefaces in their documents.
