Abstract
A computer simulation model for the freezing and melting processes of an ice storage system has been developed to estimate the seasonal energy consumption of air conditioning systems with ice storage tanks. The values of the parameters for the model were obtained through a series of experiments conducted on test equipment. The results of the simulation were compared with experimental results to determine the adequacy of the simulation. As a result it was revealed that the model was of practical use not only in cases of constant water flow rate and constant input water temperature, but also of variable flow rate and variable temperature.
