Abstract

For the purpose of improving redundancy, authors propose a structural system (Fail Safe System) that gives a frame that acts as one with the building after beam plasticization is installed in a building designed to withstand assumed seismic motion, and new horizontal rigidity is added to the story where the horizontal rigidity of the story is greatly reduced. The effectiveness of this structural system is verified by seismic response analysis. If the proposed system is effective in reducing the response, it will be possible to secure the seismic safety of the building even in unexpected earthquakes, and it will be a structural system with improved redundancy.

As a result of seismic response analysis to excessive input seismic motion, it was shown that the deformation concentration phenomenon of the specific layer was suppressed and there was a large response reduction effect. In addition, we showed the realistic possibility of connecting the attached structural frame to the building.
