Abstract

In this study, a static vertical load test was conducted on the uppermost layer of the 1/10 model of the Hokiji three-storied pagoda.

The test conditions were (1) Only rafters are used without using roofing boards, (2) Presence or absence of intermediate support for Gagyo, (3) Roof load shall be 2940N /㎡, (4) Temperature control with experimental enclosures and air conditioning.

As a result of conducting the experiment, the following conclusions were obtained. (1) The middle support of Gagyo reduced the sagging of Gagyo and Kayaoi by 60%. (2) The intermediate support of Gagyo reduce the bias in the stress of the members that make up the roof ,and changed to the support of the whole. (3) The bending strains of Gagyoand Kayaoi suggested that the deformation of Kayaoi is affected the deformation of Gagyo.
