In this paper, various damage data including building damage survey, observation of overturning of tombstones, the questionnaire seismic intensity survey and instrumental seismic intensity data in the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake are compiled. Relations between seismic intensities and various damage ratio are examined. The damage data are converted to the seismic intensity data using the relations. The isoseismal map in the Hanshin-Awaji area is estimated from overlaying the seismic intensity data. The area of seismic intensity 6-(lower) is extended from Toyonaka city in Osaka Prefecture to Seidan town in Awaji Island. The area of seismic intensity 6+(upper) is extended from Takarazuka city in Hyogo Prefecture to Ichinomiya town in Awaji Island.
