Abstract

In the composite slab used for the steel structure, welded wire mesh, which installes for priventing the concrete cracks, acts as the tension reinforcing bars in the fire, and due to membrane action the load bearing capacity can be expected to increase. As a result, there is a possibility that fire protection can be removed from secondary beams. In this paper, the load bearing capacity and ultimate state of composite slab in the fire were examined by carrying out load-bearing fire test to flooring system consists of composite slab and unprotected secondary beam until collapse.
