Abstract

This study focuses on the curing process of moisture-curing one-component polyurethane sealants and investigates a method to estimate their mechanical properties. A testing approach was developed by combining tensile tests and needle penetration tests to quantitatively evaluate the curing status along the depth. The integrated curing ratio, calculated from penetration resistance and depth, showed a strong correlation with tensile load. This method enables continuous and quantitative evaluation of the curing progress, beyond the conventional binary cured/uncured judgment. Its applicability was confirmed under both constant indoor conditions and variable outdoor environments, as well as for different sealant types.
