Purpose of the investigation is for the most part concerned with following up the planning of the experimental ward unit. This paper is a report of the field studies in some ward units. Table-1 shows the rate of occupancy by patients in each room from morning (8 : 00 A. M.) to night (5 : 00 P. M.). [table] A large proportion of patients in Self Care Units stay outdoor in day time. Day space in used by the greater part of the patients in Receiving Unit and Long Term Care Unit. [table] The rate of active behavior and personal contact are high in Self Care Unit, and low in Long Term Care Unit. The result of the research will give guidance on the design of ward units at a psychiatric hospital.
