Abstract
This paper is concerned with the experimental study on seismic force decreasing rollers which are set between building and its foundation. (1) Discussion on the mechanism to decrease seismic force applied to building. (2) Types of rollers made of sinthetic resin or cast steal. (3) Statical horizontal load tests of the rollers to get restoring force and displacement curves. (4) Forced vibration tests of the rollers to get the input acceleration. The input acceleration keeps a comparatively small and constant value in the range of higher frequencies of the vibrator (≫natural frequency of the system). In these tests, the input acceleration exceed the acceleration of the vibratior in some frequency (≒natural frequency of the system), but it will be possible to design the rollers which avoid the resonance to the earthquake wave and keep the input acceleration constant.
