Abstract
Assumptions and procedures of the analysis of reinforced concrete members were reported in the previous paper. (1) This paper is a report of experiments on reinforced concrete beams subjected to bending moment and shearing force. The purposes of the experiments are to obtain the data in order to compare and discuss with the results of the analysis, to examine the propriety of assumptions and procedures of the analysis and to investigate the behavior of reinforced concrete members. Two identical specimens are tested in order to obtain reliable data. Strain of reinforcing bars and concrete of the beams, deflections and average strain by which average curvature is calculated are measured by wire strain gauges, dial gauges and Weittemore gauge, respectively, and observation of cracks is done. Load-deflection curves, curvature distribution diagrams and load-strain curves are described with some considerations in this paper.
