Abstract
Axisymmetrical snap buckling behavior of elastic clamped shallow spherical shells.-perfect and with axisymmetric initial imperfections-, are studied. An analysis has been treated by employing the Galerkin method based on the governing nonlinear differential equations with respect to meridional and normal displacements u, w and numerical results obtained here, are compared with those of previous analytical and experimental studies. Briefly speaking of a remarkable point, it is found that the snap buckling pressures are almost lower than Linear classical buckling pressure in the ranges of high waviness deformation modes.
