Abstract
On this paper, the authors analyze types of daily movements of populations in metropolitan area and their relations to demands for traffics flows. Many types of traffic flows are reduced to some essential flow types of populations, that is called, workers' flowtypes (attending establishment.), students and pupils' (attending school), house wives' (going shopping). Demand for traffics can be estimated as the compositions of these flow types. Characteristics of them on estimating vnit are as follows; 1. Average number of worker per household is varied in each district. Almost of workers attending estabishement are commuters. Commuters ratio to total populations of a district is about 20〜35%. 2. Average number atlending school per household are also varied in accordance with the charater of each residential unit. (1.0〜1.5p/H), Commuters ratio in very low compared with workes'. It is under 10% of all district. 3. House wives' out-door activities are much various. On the point of the freguency, main flow types are shopping in neighbourhood and shopping in vrban central district. On the freguency of the latter, ratio of person, at least onee a month, is about 50%.
