Abstract
In Japan, since the new code for base-isolation design was established in 2000, all of the isolation devices shall be pre-qualified by the government. In the pre-qualification, manufactures are required to submit various technical data supported by experiment. A working group of JSSI has been working for survey and analysis, in order to provide useful technical information of rolling bearings to the structural engineers. This paper presents the summary of those investigation-results of the rolling friction characteristic: limit compressive strength; compressive-stress dependence; velocity dependence; gradient dependence by setting.
