THE CASE STUDY ON THE PLANNING URBAN AXIS AND URBAN CORE FOR THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DOWNTOWN AND HARBOR DISTRICTS ON WAKKANAI CITY REVITALIZATION PROGRAM(Urban Planning)

Abstract

Many local cities in Japan were started to develop from harbor area. At recently, the land use in harbor area was changed and urbanized. But the planning process on downtown and harbor area is separated in many local cities. The considerable issues are addressed how to link between downtown and harbor area for the city and downtown revitalization. In this paper, we considered and planed Urban Axis and Urban Core for linking between downtown and harbor districts on the city revitalization program in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido Japan. Planning the specifically networks and linkages on both area is important in Wakkanai.
