Abstract

The purpose of this report is to consider the results of a survey on detached houses with "the glass-covered space" in Hokkaido and the results of the questionnaire on the sunroom's thermal environment in the Pacific coast region of East Hokkaido, where in summer, people have dense fog while in winter they enjoy abundant sunshine. It was found through the survey that many houses in Hokkaido have the glass-covered space at the entrance just before the front door. The sunroom was found most popular in towns of the coast rather than those of the inland. The sunroom gives most of the people on the coast much satisfaction.
