Abstract
This study focuses on the street name system for supporting and guiding pedestrians, and aims to clarify the effects and to point out the issues by introducing the system through the social experiment at Tenjin District in Fukuoka City.
Firstly, through the questionnaire survey of visitors, shop owners and guides, we evaluate the street name system by analysis their impression. Second, we point out the issues how to name the streets and how to place the signposts. Finally, we propose the methods to improve the street name system.
