Abstract
To know the damage and recovery process from past earthquakes is important to consider disaster prevention for those regions. In this study, Akita Senboku earthquake of 1914 is surveyed in details mainly referring newspaper articles at that time. This magnitude 7.1 earthquake occurred inland of Akita prefecture and caused huge human and physical damages. Newspaper articles related to this earthquake had been continued for two weeks and these are listed in a table. Damaging and recovering processes which are not appeared in the past reports can be traced.
