Abstract

The engineering plastics, polycarbonate resin materials are transparent and have a high level of impact resistance and flame retardant properties.
These properties enable them to be used as construction material in various ways. They do not break easily compared to other wooden building materials and are thus safe to use. This, in turn, leads to thinking that it may be possible to make a wooden shear wall consisting of plywood and nails like regular wooden-frame structure, with the exception of using polycarbonate solid sheets as a substitute for the plywood. Number of shear wall specimens were prepared and tested for in-plane shear properties.
