Abstract
In this study, we studied the effects of height regulations, height limit(within 20m) and H/D rule (within one), in the case of Shirakabe historic preservation district. Four types of the lot model and 15 types of the building model are examined. As a result, (1) feasible floor volume is not influenced by the height limit because of the ‘shadow regulation’, (2) The height rule reduces feasible building space according to the lot size, e.g. 900 square meters lot causes 10% reduction, (3) H/D rule is effective to preserve the streetscape, but reduces 10% of the feasible floor volume.
