AUTOMATIC CONVERSION FROM BUILDING CODES INTO CONFORMANCE CHECKING COMPUTER PROGRAMS

Abstract

Architects and engineers are responsible for their designs to be compliant to many regulations such as building codes and public specifications. However, it is very difficult to retrieve all the necessary regulations for a building, and even more difficult to check the design by these regulations. In this report, an intelligent method is proposed to generate building code checking programs automatically. The author applies the natural language processing technique, and makes a converter from the Japanese building codes to conformance checking computer programs, which may be executed in the BIM environment in the future.
