Abstract
We carried out a renovation project of an old house in the south of Iwate prefecture during 2004-2009. In this project, we surveyed not only the historic knowledge but also the quantity and quality of old and new materials and works of the construction in order to grasp the environmental load.
Finally, we found an idea of reuse flow for the best way to succeed the frame unit and to make good use of the other materials. It is better to use aged materials inside of domestic area than taking them from distant area from the viewpoint of cultural heritage and environmental load.
